My name is Jasmin Hooker. I obtained my B.S. at the University of Utah
in Political Science. It wasn't long after graduating that I began
working at a small non-profit in the Los Angeles area whose mission is
to improve the health and quality of life for undeserved youth. My
position as Project Coordinator allowed me to be actively involved with
the planning of mentoring programs and educational support, as well as
the implementation of programs within the classroom. This is where my
passion for students and education developed and not long after I
realized my desire to teach. Starting as an Instructional Aide, I was
given the opportunity to teach in a variety of educational settings
(e.g. classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one instruction). To better
prepare myself for my own classroom someday I decided to expand my
education at the University of San Diego where I will obtain my
Master’s of Education, Curriculum and Instruction and Multiple Subject
Teaching Credential.
When I'm not studying and exploring
education, I focus my energy on family, photography, running, hiking,
and community service.
